Snips offers a Freelance Hairstyling Service to many Care Homes and Clinics in and around the Totton and New Forest area of Hampshire.
Armed with the correct knowledge and the appropriate qualifications, mobile hairdressers should no longer be branded as 'cowboys' of the trade. For many years mobile hairstylists have been stigmatised as exactly that but you, the client, can help sift the chaff from the wheat by asking a few simple questions. After all it is your
hair in their hands!
To start off with it's always advisable to ask the stylist how long they have been qualified and also find out if they specialise in a particular area of hairdressing; for example it will be of no use to you if you would like to have your hair coloured and the stylist in question specialises in cutting, although he/she will be qualified to colour, his forte would be in the field of cutting and styling.
Many of us are all rounders but it's becoming increasingly popular amongst stylists to specialise in a particular area of hairdressing.
Another useful question to ask is whether the stylist is a State Registered Hairdresser set up by the hairdressing council.
The Hairdressing Council is not a trade body but a statutory body for hairdressers, set up by law - the Hairdressers Registration Act - in1964, to establish and maintain an official register of qualified hairdressers.

A little about me...
I've been hairdressing for 26 years. I completed my apprenticeship in South Africa for a German stylist that owned a chain of influential hair salons in the Western Transvaal.
I was very fortunate to have had the best training available,
and was then encouraged to enter the yearly national hairdressing
competitions for which I won a second and third place for two years
running. As I progressed in my hairdressing career I joined the
company's artistic team, which involved styling hair for prestigious fashion
shows, photograpic shoots and corporate charity events.
I have worked for many world renowned names in hairdressing, including
Alan Paul in Edenvale, Johannesburg. Upon returning to the U.K
in 1992, I opened my own Salon in Yeovil, Somerset, where I swiftly
built up a thriving business & loyal client base.
After seven years of running my own busy Salon, I met my husband
and re-located to Southampton in Hampshire, to be with him, this
is when I laid down the scissors and took a few years out from the
trade, having said that..."once a hairdresser always a hairdresser!"
...because of course, family and friends weren't intending
to let me put them away permanently were they?
